The Blender Foundation is now an official member of the Khronos Group, an industry consortium that develops and implements open standards for programming interfaces (APIs) for graphics and sound, such as OpenGL, Vulkan, and glTF.
The Blender Foundation is on the “Associate Member” level, which gives it full access to all projects and allows contribute to API development, but not voting in working groups.
The advantage of such a membership is the early access to all specifications and standards being developed. However, the Blender Foundation for membership in the Khronos Group will have to pay at least 3500 USD per year (or 175 USD per employee, if there are more than 20 of them).
